I’m proud to support Trish Mandewo for Mayor of Coquitlam.
I rarely voted before. Politics was never really my thing. But I believe we are at a turning point, and I want to take responsibility for helping shape our future. Having grown up in Canada for most of my life, I believe this is one of the best countries in the w
orld. But loving our country also means recognizing where we need to do better.
People still face unfair treatment because of their ethnicity, culture or financial situation. I have experienced it myself. Not every day, but even occasionally is too often. In 2026, why should anyone still feel that their background makes their voice matter less?
Everyone deserves to be heard, treated fairly and given the opportunity to thrive. That is an important part of why I wholeheartedly support Trish. After learning about her work, experience and vision, I see a leader who brings both substance and a commitment to inclusion.
Trish brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across government, business, healthcare and nonprofits. She has served two terms on Coquitlam City Council and twice as President of the Union of BC Municipalities. Her experience connects City Hall with businesses, communities and other levels of government.
What matters most to me is what that experience can mean for our community:
Responsible growth, with roads, transit and services keeping pace.
Careful financial management, so our tax dollars deliver real value.
Support for seniors, families, young people and local businesses.
Safer communities, with parks and recreation that protect our quality of life.
Accountable leadership that listens, brings people together and delivers.
Her vision, “Building a Better Coquitlam — Moving Forward, Together,” reflects the kind of future I want to support: practical, inclusive and focused on results.
This is not about dismissing other candidates. I encourage everyone to do their own research. Read their websites, look at their professional experience and consider what they have accomplished. Keep an open mind and ask who can turn their promises into meaningful action.
For me, that leader is Trish Mandewo.
Our choices matter. Let’s make a thoughtful, responsible decision, not just for ourselves and our families, but for the whole community we call home.
